Developer sandboxes

How to get a free test agreement, keep it running, and what you can do on it.

A sandbox is a demo agreement with test data that you use to build and test your integration. It works exactly like a real accounting agreement, but nothing you do affects real bookkeeping, and it's completely free: no subscription, no users to pay for, no add-ons to pay for.

Step 1: Create a Demo with Data

  1. Sign up for a demo with data using the form on e-conomic.dk/regnskabsprogram/demo-alle.

  2. Use the same e-mail address as your developer agreement. You can then switch between your developer agreement and your sandbox with the agreement selector at the top right, with one login.

The demo contains fictive customers, suppliers, products, invoices, accounts and booked entries, and runs on the Komplet package, so features such as dimensions are available. The booked entries are a few years old, so they won't get mixed up with the test data you create today.

Obs

💡 Want to start from scratch instead? An empty demo works too. Create your own data, or import it via CSV or the API.

Step 2: Send Us the Agreement Number to Keep It

A new demo expires after 14 days. To keep it as your sandbox, send its agreement number to API support at api@e-conomic.com. We'll extend it up to one year at a time, free of charge, and you can have it extended again as often as you need.

You'll find the agreement number:

  • in the welcome e-mail you received when you created the demo,

  • at the top right in e-conomic, next to the agreement name, or

  • via the API: GET https://restapi.e-conomic.com/self → agreementNumber.

Please send the sandbox's agreement number, not your developer agreement number (the developer agreement never expires), and never send us your tokens.

Obs

💡 Tip: write to us during the month before your sandbox expires, so there's no interruption.

Step 3: Install Your App on the Sandbox

  1. In your developer agreement, open your app and copy the installation URL under Tokens.

  2. Switch to your sandbox with the agreement selector at the top right, and keep only one e-conomic tab open.

  3. Open the installation URL and approve. You'll receive the AgreementGrantToken for your sandbox.

On a sandbox, your app can be installed without the survey and MitID verification that real agreements require. If your sandbox still says "App not ready for installation", send us its agreement number and we'll make sure it's set up as a sandbox.

Everything on a Sandbox Is Free

  • Users: add as many as you need (All settings → Subscription → Users). Create them as normal users with the tabs they need. A view-only user can see almost nothing and can't write. How to create a user.

  • Add-on modules and apps from Market, such as Projektstyring or Dimensioner. Add them yourself; adding a module needs a user with rights to add add-ons, typically the superuser.

  • Package changes, e.g. to Komplet.

Going Live

When your integration is ready, install the same app on the production agreement using the same installation URL. You'll get a new AgreementGrantToken for that agreement and keep your AppSecretToken. Before an app can be installed on real agreements, the app's survey must be submitted and your company verified with MitID.

Good to Know

  • No copy of production: we can't copy a production agreement, or parts of it, into a sandbox. Use the demo data, create your own, or import it via CSV.

  • No reset: a sandbox can't be wiped. For a fresh start, create a new demo and send us its number.

  • Several sandboxes: you can create as many demos as you like, e.g. one for automated tests and one for manual tests, or several to test multi-agreement flows. A new demo doesn't affect your existing ones.

  • The developer agreement isn't a sandbox: it has no accounting data, and apps can't be installed on it.

  • Just want to try the API? Use demo as both tokens (X-AppSecretToken: demo, X-AgreementGrantToken: demo). That gives read-only (GET) access to a shared demo agreement.

  • EAN invoices (NemHandel) can't be sent from a sandbox: sending via EAN requires a paying (non-demo) Danish agreement. See POST /invoices/booked.

  • Fair use applies to sandboxes too, so the usual rate limits and API terms apply.

Expired, Deleted or Locked Out?

  • Expired: send us the agreement number. If the sandbox still exists, we'll reopen it for up to a year. Your tokens keep working.

  • Deleted (expired a long time ago): it can't be restored. Create a new demo and send us its number straight away.

  • The person who owned it has left: if someone still has access, change the superuser. Otherwise it's often simplest to create a new demo and install your app there.

  • Lost your two-factor authentication: use your emergency code, see set up two-factor authentication on a new phone.

Need Help?

Contact API support at api@e-conomic.com with your sandbox's agreement number. Never include your tokens.
